As a room mom, class mom and clasroom party planner for over 13 years between my four boys, I would start every party season with the best intentions. “This time, I’ll keep it simple!” I ‘m pretty sure I said this for every-single-party lol! But somehow I ended up hot-gluing googly eyes onto marshmallows and making DIY labels for juice boxes, while sending the email chain to parents where half of them sign up to bring plates or napkins, and one parent volunteers to bring “their presence.” yep, thanks. After a few years of being the designated party planner, I grew tired of re-inventing the wheel again and again for the class parties. I thought to myself “if only I could Amazon the party, simply click and order it”.
That’s where the brain child “MyClassroomParty” party in a box was developed, the seed was officially planted– which then became a reality years later… and that’s another story for a future blog post ;).
Okay– so back to helping you plan something fun and different for your kiddo’s party :). You can level up your classroom Valentine’s Day party with lots of different options. Forget the same old candy overload (your dentist will thank you later) and try something fun and meaningful this year! You can throw an amazing party AND give back to the community? Enter: Parties with a Purpose.
Here are some ideas to add kindness and community service into your Valentine’s Day festivities—because nothing says “love” like helping others and possibly making your room mom résumé shine:
❤️ Cards for the Heroes (and the Wise Ones): Have the kids whip up Valentine’s Day cards for servicemen and women or for local senior citizens. Nothing says “I care” like glitter glue and questionable spelling ;).
🌳 Gratitude Tree: Build a heart-shaped wall of warm fuzzies where kids can write notes about what they love—like their family, friends, their teachers, or maybe just recess.
🎨 Art for a Cause: Create cheerful drawings and banners for kids in local hospitals. The messier the paint hands, the bigger the impact (probably).
✍️ Thank You Notes That Count: Encourage students to write letters of appreciation to someone they admire.
😂 DIY Joke Books: Because who doesn’t need a little laughter? These homemade books can brighten anyone’s day—especially when the jokes are hilariously bad.
📚 Books for Buddies: Let kids create a storybook for their younger reading buddies. Who knows? You might inspire the next Mo Willems.
🎁 Crafts for Kindness: From retirement homes to hospitals, handmade crafts can make someone’s day. Let those glue sticks fly!
🤝 Big-Hearted Service Projects: Team up with a local charity to make care packages, assemble hygiene kits, or create cards for hospitalized kids. Trust us, nothing bonds a class faster than a good assembly line.
This year, make your Valentine’s party about more than just candy and chaos. Add a dose of kindness, and watch the love spread faster than glitter on a classroom floor!
Or Another Fun Option
For those parents that want to have fun and partcitpate but already have a mile long to-do list. I suggest ordering a pre-planned party with every thing you need for party day. That’s why we created MyClassroomParty, so room parents, class moms, teachers and party volunteers have an easier way to make the memories and be apart of the class party but can avoid all of the extra work it requires.

Let’s be real, planning your kids’ class parties can feel like a chore after doing it again and again, but it doesn’t have to be! Skip the chaos and go straight to the fun with MyClassroomParty. Specializing solely in classroom holiday parties (yes, just classroom parties—because they know where the real battlefield is). The website is packed with fun, easy options that will have you looking like the Room Parent of the Year without breaking a sweat—or a glue stick.
And if you’re just looking for a time filler at one of the party stations, you can grab a free Valentine’s Day themed printable here.

Whatever direction you choose for your Valentine’s Day extravaganza, I hope it’s a blast! After all, they’re only in elementary school for a short time, so embrace the glitter, the chaos and the mess… most importantly have fun & make the memories!
