Scene: a baby throwing a fit in the stroller, the toddler picking a piece of gum off the floor and popping it into their mouth, and an older mom says “oh, cherish these years, it goes faster than you think!”

And you wanted to tell her to buzz off, right? 🙂 It can be rough sometimes when you’re in the younger years. Well, those alleged lovely children in the story above are now 15 and 17. They just took the PSAT and the SAT this week and I am finding myself reminiscing about the times they squirted entire juice boxes at each other at a restaurant or squished about $100 worth of food in the grocery cart. I now miss those times and laugh at myself for how much fun we had. It wasn’t all public embarrassment and destruction of course. We went to the zoo, crafted, baked, played at the park and most of the time it was absolute joy. My point is, even the wild moments are now good memories and I’ve often seen other moms in the baby or toddler trenches, and have thought to myself, man it goes fast. I hope she’s keeping her heart light and enjoying most of it.

Motherhood was once described to me as “Long in the days, short in the years”. It is vital that we don’t get too busy and lost in the day-to-day minutiae and that we take time for special moments while the kids are still small. I’m going to be packing one up for college in about a year and I’m so very glad I have a million memories.

Celebrating our moms is always important, but Mother’s Day is to hug yours if you still have her, think of her if you don’t, pat yourself on the back if you are one and celebrate your mom friends. If you’re a husband or partner to a mom, or even a kid reading this, make her feel special.

Below are some fun links to ways to engage with your kids and bond. All of these are quick, fun and engaging, sure to bring shared smiles and make lasting memories. It’s never the what you do, it’s how it makes you feel when doing it, and these will make everyone thankful for the moments together.

Hello and welcome to This Fun Mom! We’re a group of mom friends dishing out the deets of our funny and chaotic journey through parenthood. We love to share a bit about our parenting life, tips, tricks and mom-hacks. We try not to take ourselves too seriously, making this journey fun as we mom-hard along the way!

Along our voyage of parenting we discovered that there needed to be more convenient solutions for busy moms like us. We found this to be true especially when we volunteered in our kid’s classrooms; so a couple of us created the company MyClassroomPARTY.

Cheers to the messy, marvelous world of This Fun Mom! 🎉😄
